MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis Botanic Garden has decked the halls and trimmed the 80’ tall Contorted White Pine City of Memphis Christmas Tree, located on the Memphis Botanic Garden grounds for the very first time.
The official Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held 5:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24 as a special St. Jude patient and family flip the switch to light the tree. Emcee for the evening, Ron Olson with FM 100 will kick off the festivities and will be joined by City of Memphis & Memphis Botanic Garden officials and even Santa Claus.
This Tree Lighting Ceremony marks the beginning of the newly expanded, must-attend Holiday Wonders at the Garden. The new events Trees Alight, Sculptures Bright, and the IKEA Outdoor Lounge as well as longtime favorite - Snowy Nights in My Big Backyard are all part of the festivities.
Decorated with dozens of ornaments and illuminated by the area’s most innovative LED light show the City of Memphis Christmas Tree is an important part of the Holiday Wonders at the Garden celebration that is sure to ignite some holiday cheer. The Christmas tree will be visible from Cherry Road nightly including nights when the Holiday Wonders at the Garden is not operating.
Holiday Wonders at the Garden opens 5:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24 and will run for 22 select nights through Dec. 30.
